WASSCE 2022 REGISTRATION: NO NIN, NO ENTRY: The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said that the National Identification Number (NIN) would become mandatory during the registration for its School Certificate Examination from 2022.

The Head of the National Office (HNO) of WAEC, Mr. Patrick Areghan, made this known at a news conference on Tuesday in Lagos, while addressing the necessary steps that should be taken for adequate preparation of the 2021 WASSCE examinations which is scheduled to take place on the 16th of August, 2021 to 13th of September, 2021 nationwide.

He said that the NIN will now be compulsory for all Students registering for the forthcoming West Africa Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for the 2022/2023 session.

He further added, that propective candidates must register with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and get their NIN. This is in line with the Federal Government’s policy, as directed by the Federal Minstry of Education.

He warns about the implication of not getting the NIN, when he said,

It will be No NIN, No registration, No entry!

Statistics shows that a total of 19,425 recognised Secondary Schools registered for the 2021 WASSCE examination. This comprise of 8,052 Public and 11,373 private schools across the 36 states of the federation and the Fedral Capital Territory, Abuja. Consequently, all the schools presents a total of 1,573,789 candidates, which comprises of 792,620 males (50.36%) and 781,169 females (49.64%).

Furthermore “all registered Candidates will be examined in 76 subjects, made up of 197 papers. And about 25,000 senior teachers would be participating in the examination as supervisors”, he said.

In conclusion, he said “This will bring a smooth and credible registration processes for the betterment of students and the public at large.
