The board also fixed 100 as the minimum cut-off point mark for admission into polytechnics and colleges of education. JAMB 2024 Cut-Off Mark
In their 2024 Policy meetings in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, Jamb pegged the minimum score or cut-off mark for university admission at 140. The cut-off mark for polytechnic and Colleges of Education is 100.
Consequently, following this meeting and fixing the minimum cut-off mark, all institutions are to fix their cut-off mark above this minimum score. No institution will be allowed to fix its cut-off mark below this threshold.

Minimum Entry Age Policy
At the meeting, the minister directed that admission to tertiary institutions should not be given to candidates under 18 years old.
The announcement elicited mixed reactions from vice-chancellors, rectors, and registrars present at the meeting. Nevertheless, the minister decried the activities of some parents, who are pressuring their underage wards to get admission into tertiary institutions. Hence, Mamman said that the 18-year benchmark is in line with the 6-3-3-4 system of education.
The Minister added that for those who will not be able to gain admission into tertiary institutions, the Ministry of Education is taking skills to pupils from primary school.
“JAMB is hereby instructed from admission this year to admit only eligible students. That is those who have attained 18 years by our laws,” the minister. However, after much deliberation with all stakeholders, the Jamb Registrar announced that 16-year-old students will be considered for this year’s 2024 admission. Furthermore, from next year 2025, the minimum admission age will be 18 years.
Jamb also stated that all candidates must get NIN to create an account for examination registration. Also, Direct Entry (DE) candidates will need to go through some verifications before gaining entry into any university.

Other Requirements for Admission
- No institution is required to admit DE candidates with less than two points, the highest point is now 16 and the lowest is 2;
- The Jamb Registrar also stated that no institution will be allowed to add further expenses for admission screening of candidates into universities;
- Jamb will give all Institutions access to all candidates’ photograph images and fingerprint data in other to reduce substitution and impersonation of candidates during post-UTME. Consequently, no institution will be allowed to recapture photographs or biometrics from any candidate.
