NIN to SIM Linkage for All Mobile Networks

But before you start, take note of the following:

• Firstly, those with the National Identity Card issued by NIMC, sorry to tell you that the 11-digit identification number is not printed on it. The NIN is meant to be confidential; you have to search for the National Identification Number Slip (NINS) issued to you on the day you registered to get the NIN number;
• Secondly, If you have misplaced the National Identification Number Slip (NINS), there is hope! Use the USSD code *346# to retrieve your NIN from NIMC at no cost as directed by the Federal Government.
• Lastly, the National Identification Number (NIN) submitted through the various platforms provided by all mobile network operators will be received as unverified, pending validation on NIMC database. If not successfully validated, you may be required to re-validate this information in person in the office of your network provider.

Using the Short USSD Code on your Phone:

• Dial *785# and send;
• A page pops up requesting for the NIN (11-digit number), input it and send;
• Your message is successfully received will be displayed OR
• Dial *785* your NIN# from the phone number you wish to link.

Using Website browser:

• Log on to www.nin.mtnonline.com;
• Fill the following: First name, last name, middle name, phone number, the 11-digit NIN number and your email address;
• Click Submit, on the next page
• Enter OTP (One Time Password) sent to your phone number;
• Type the OTP and click Submit.

Using My MTN App:

MTN will prompt you to link your phone number to your NIN, click “Proceed” and Enter the following:

• Phone Number;
• Notification e-mail and
• NIN (11-digit number)

Successfully submit your NIN number to be linked to your Mobile number with the steps above if you are subscribed to MYN Network.

Using the Short USSD Code on your Phone:

• Dial *121*1*# and send;
• The text below pops up, type 1, and send;

• Enter your NIN (11- digit number);
• Click Send;
• You will receive a successful submission message.

Using Website Browser:

• Log on to www.airtel.com/nin;
• Next, fill the following details:  Mobile number: +234 ……………
• You will get a OTP (One Time Password) on your mobile phone number;
• Enter the OTP in the space provided;
• Click “proceed”;
• Enter you NIN (11 – digit number);
• Enter the number and click “Proceed”.
• You will receive a successful submission message.

Using Phone:

Send the following through text message to 109:

• Update NIN
• NIN (11-digit number)
• First Name and
• Last Name

Using Website browser:

• Log on to www.gloworld.com/ng/nin;
• Fill the following details:
• First name,
• Last name,
• Middle Name,
• Phone Number,
• NIN (11- digit number) and email address;
• For verification, type any two digit number;
• Click “Submit”;
• Great! your form is successfully submitted.

Using Website browser:

• Log on to www.9mobile.com.ng/nin;
• You see a call-to-action box ”verify and link your NIN now”, click it;
• A page shows requesting you enter mobile number, enter it and click “next”;
• You will receive a One-Time-Password (OTP), enter it and click “next”;
• Enter your NIN (11- digit number)
• Put On your Camera and click “capture”, ones your passport is taking;
• Click “next”
• Received a successful message? Great!

In Conclusion, after your NIN (11-digit number) has been submitted, the network provider will begin the process of verification with the NIMC. If your NIN is verified, congratulations! It will further be linked to your network SIM registration, so you may not need to do anything. But if it is not possible to verify the NIN you have submitted, then you may need to visit a NIN enrolment center, in person.

Failure to either submit your NIN (11-digit number) to your network operator for verification and linkage or go to the NIN registration center to get a National Identification Number (NIN) before 19th January 2021 or 9th February 2021 respectively will lead to the blocking of the subscriber line as directed by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC).
